Are You A Dead Fish ?

Never forget that only dead fish swim with the stream. Malcolm Muggeridge, 1903 - 1990
It's a good quote. If you don't come up with your own ideas and methods, you're a dead fish! Think about it for a moment...

In most aspects of my life I'd say I'm definitely not a dead fish - have been kicking against the current for as long as I can remember in many ways. But when it comes to work...? The part of my brain which should be able to come up with new concepts/ideas seems to be sound asleep. Any ideas on how to kickstart it? But I guess by even asking that question I've emphasised my own failing lol. A good quote, certainly something to think about... :)

Lately, I've also been struggling with work and ideas - I came to the conclusion that thinking too hard is just not good.

Motivation for me is difficult - I already have in life what I want (and I don't actually want that many material things if you know what I mean). I have a picture on my office wall of my dream house - it's a log cabin on a lake where I can hunt and fish. Fearnley-Whittingstall wannabe, that's me. Being able to afford to live that way is what motivates me, as soon as I have enough to buy a place I'll be long gone :D

bdiybvmRegarding the original post/comment - You trying to steal my thunder Gary? This is actually the signiture I use on a coupe of forums - I am now thinking its not that original - of course, I did actually steal it, but not from the source you quoted - I first noticed it tagged on the bottom of a number plate on a motorbike on the Isle of Man (during TT week). It just struck me as being a great statement - makes you smile but makes you think....

Funny thing is, if you look at my life on paper (or in a blog) you may think I do go against the flow - life in the navy/marry a chinese woman/change to the retail industry - however, my feelings are that I very much do go with the flow - what is offered to me I just seem to take without question - never really knowing or thinking about where its going to end up!

Enough of the philosiphising, with regards to boos and your comments, there must be something in the air at present - I am suffering a little from a similar lack of direction. The new online store is progressing but it is hard work. Lack of ideas and motivation being the problem. Still, everyone goes throught these stages - the important thing is to just keep plowing on. If you can progress slowly in the difficult times, it all helps when things are going good. We will get to the log cabin in the end :)

Cheers,
Rich
