I'm off to Rio ;)

With the proceeds of my oscbooks sale, I'm off to Rio de Janeiro. Hurrah! Not really, I wish though! I have to go over to west Wales for a few days, so will be without Interweb access unless I can find an Internet Caff somewhere. Unlikely, I know. So, this Blog won't be updated until Wednesday evening most likely.

New URL: www.osworld.biz - thanks!

:-D

Going to Wales mihght sound like a long way, but I am only 20 minutes or so from the border...

And a day in Wales is quite long enough! ;-)

Probably just as well it was Wales and not Rio....

Went there once when working on the ships, awesome place but quite a number of the lads on the ship got a little led astray by the local ladies - they enjoyed themselves while they were there but picked up a special souvenir, a rather hard to treat STD. After leaving and setting sail for the UK, we were half way back across the Atlantic when the ships Doc realised that the particular strain of "the clap" that half the ships crew had picked up was immune to the standard treatment of penicillin - there was then a flurry of correspondance between the ship and the UK before some rather stronger and specific medication was flown out to the ship by RAF helicopter!!

Personally I was far to busy in Rio to catch any kind of "souvenir" - Got to the Marcana stadium to see Brazil v Argentina - only a friendly but total grudge match and when Brazil lost.... Lot of Brazilian flags went up in flames. Bit of white water rafting, the copacabana and, of course Sugar Loaf mountain, etc..

Bl**dy great place BUT before you go getting jealous, I had just spent four miserable months stationed in the Falklands - home of penguins, bad weather and absolutley nothing else! :)

Cheers,
Rich
